  • I've forgotten my policy number, what do I need to do?

    If you've forgotten your policy number or can't find it, please contact us on 0800 389 6998.
  • What is covered under my helpucover Gadget and Mobile Phone Insurance policy?

    Hand held computer equipment and tablets, laptops, portable car navigation equipment, desktop computers, scanners, printers, telecommunications equipment, portable Hi-fi Audio equipment, portable TV, DVD and games equipment and photographic equipment are all covered on your policy. All items over £150 need to be registered. The item details are stored on our secure database in case you ever need to retrieve them.   • How long am I covered for?

    You can find your 'Policy Start Date' at the top of your Welcome letter. Your helpucover Gadget and Mobile Phone Insurance cover is ongoing from that date until the policy is cancelled/terminated. A claim may only be made after the deferred period which is 14 days from when your policy commences.
  • Is there an excess?

    Yes. There is a £50 excess to pay per item.
  • How many and what kind of gadgets can I register?

    There is no limit to the number of gadgets or mobile phones you can register. For items worth over 150, we recommend you register these. Your policy covers you for up to 1,500 in a 12 month period subject to a claims excess of 50 per item. Here is a list of items which may be registered:- Computers/Games equipment Desktop, Hand held computer equipment: Tablet PC, PDA/Palmtop, Laptops, Portable data storage device, Handheld game machine (excluding game software) Mobile phones including iPhones, BlackBerrys, smartphones and accessories such as a Bluetooth headset Gadget Portable Hi-fi and Audio equipment Personal CD/Mini disc, Portable speakers for MP3/4, Portable radio/Cassette/CD player, Portable radio, Portable media centre/MP4, Two way radio, Portable CD player, MP3/Ipod. TV/DVD Portable TV, DVD and Games equipment: Handheld TV, Portable DVD player Cameras Photographic equipment: Camera, Camcorder, camera accessories, Photo viewer, Portable digital photo frames. Miscellaneous gadgets Dictation machine, Organiser/Calculator, (Software and Loss of data is not covered), Portable car navigation equipment: Satellite Navigator, GPS tracker, Speed camera detector
  • Who is covered under my helpucover Gadget and Mobile Phone Insurance policy?

    Your policy covers you and family members living at your address.
  • What is the maximum amount that I can claim for an item that is not registered?

    £150. We recommend that you register items worth over 150 in order to be able to claim their value. Your policy covers you for up to 1,500 in a 12 month period subject to a claims excess(es) of 50 per item.
  • How easy is it to make a claim?

    If the claim is for accidental damage or breakdown, please fill in a claim form, which you can download from Claims Information or call us on 0800 389 6998 and we can send one to you. Simply pop it back in the post along with all the documents requested. Once the claim has been processed successfully, we will arrange to have the gadget/phone repaired through our dedicated repairer if the item is damaged or breaks down. If the claim is for loss or theft, your first step is to report the incident to helpucover Gadget and Mobile Phone Insurance and to the police within 24 hours of discovery of the incident otherwise your claim may be invalid.
  • I received a mobile phone as a present and do not have proof of purchase, can this still be covered?

    Yes provided you or a member of your family are the owner of the item. If the handset is on contract, the IMEI number will be registered with the network provider.
  • Is a damaged screen covered?

    If the damage is cosmetic and still functional, then no. If the damage affects the use of the phone, this would be classed as accidental damage and would be covered.
  • How many claims can I make in a year?

    You can make two claims per year within a rolling 12 month calendar.
  • Is world wide cover included in helpucover Gadget and Mobile Phone Insurance?

    Cover is extended to include use of the electrical or mechanical item(s) anywhere in the world, up to a maximum of 90 days in total, in any 12 month rolling period.
  • What if I'm abroad and my gadgets and/or mobile phone are lost or stolen?

    You're covered abroad for up to 90 days per year. You'll need to report the loss or theft to helpucover Gadget and Mobile Phone Insurance and to the police within 24 hours. Call us from wherever you are in the world on +44 2392 676551 and we'll take it from there. Our fully trained professional agents are available to take your call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.   • How do I get replacement gadgets or mobile phones?

    helpucover gadget and mobile phone insurance will reimburse you for the cost of repairing or replacing gadgets or mobile phones. Where only a part or parts of your electrical or mechanical item(s) have been stolen, accidentally damaged, lost or had an electrical or mechanical breakdown, we will pay for the replacement of that part or parts.
  • What happens if the gadgets or mobile phones are uneconomical to repair?

    helpucover gadget and mobile phone insurance will cover any repair costs if your insured item(s) breaks down, up to the original price you paid for it. If your insured item(s) proves impossible or uneconomic to repair, we will replace it or reimburse the cost of replacement, subject to our discretion. You can make two claims per 12 month period. Your policy covers you for up to 1,500 in a 12 month period subject to a claims excess(es) of 50 per item.
  • Is my partner covered?

    Yes. Your partner, spouse or any member of yourfamily who lives with you at your home is covered.
  • I am going to university, am I still covered under my parents policy?

    Cover is provided for family members at the address registered on the policy. If your address changed, you would not be covered.
  • Am I able to claim the cost of a replacement phone which was free to me when I took out a mobile phone contract?

  • What do I do if I receive an email that requests my personal information or concerns me?

    We'll never request your personal information by email. If you receive an unsolicited email that claims to come from us that concerns you, please forward it onto our team at helpucover gadget and mobile phone insurance and we will investigate it further.
