Woman's delight after puppy found

Thursday May 22nd 2014

A woman is "over the moon" after being reunited with her puppy who went missing for almost a week after being taken from her home.

June Gosling launched a Facebook appeal to help trace her beloved Staffordshire-mastiff-American bulldog-cross bitch Cookie, who went missing from the property in Erith, south-east London on May 14.

After receiving several online messages saying a dog matching the description was seen around Picardy Street, Belvedere, police then stopped a man on the same street who was walking a dog that looked like Cookie.

Vets scanned the dog's microchip which proved conclusively that the dog was indeed six-month-old Cookie.

Thanking the public, police - in particular PCSO Jay Worrall - and Facebook, Ms Gosling said: "I couldn't be more happy. Being reunited with her was an incredible relief. I won't be letting her out of my sight."

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and later released on bail pending further enquiries, the Metropolitan Police revealed.
