Whisper needs tender loving care
Wednesday October 1st 2014
A rescue centre is looking for a caring home for a dog that is afraid of people and everything around her.
The Staffordshire bull terrier named Whisper has been at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London for around eight months. She stays in her kennel during the day and only ventures out when the other dogs are asleep and there are no visitors.
Staff at the centre describe her behaviour as "agoraphobic" and they are struggling to find a home for her. Whisper was found under a bush in Surrey and it is thought she was kept in a cage or shed as a breeding dog.
Despite her timid nature Whisper would be a loving, gentle pet for someone but whoever takes her in will need to spend plenty of time with her to bring her out of her shell, according to the Battersea centre's senior animal welfare assistant Karen Slavid.
Karen is desperate for Whisper to have an enjoyable life away from the centre and says she is in need of a happy ending after such a difficult start to her life.
Whisper is to be on TV on Thursday on Paul O'Grady's ITV show For The Love Of Dogs. Many owners show their love for their dogs by making sure any veterinary treatment is covered by Pet Insurance.
