Two new species of cat unveiled

Tuesday September 15th 2015

Two new species of cat that have no fur and short bob tails have been created in America.

The SphynxieBob, which is similar to the Sphynx breed, and the BamBob, which is like the Bambino moggy, have been unveiled by breeder April Arguin.

Adoption fees for BamBobs are said to be in the region of £2,270, while SphynxieBobs could set you back as much as £1,800.

In a process that takes three generations of cat to complete, the two types of puss were created by mixing the two hairless breeds with the American Bobtail.

Ms Arguin, of Jacksonville, Florida, who runs the Lil Nudists Cattery, was inspired to develop the new varieties because of her love for both Sphynxs and Bobtails.

She says the SphynxieBob and the BamBob would make the perfect pet for cat lovers who are allergic to fur, adding that both are extremely friendly and love to be around children.

The breeder now hopes to get the cats officially recognised by the Rare and Exotic Feline Registry, which has more than 9,500 moggies on its books, but admits she may need a few more litters before her bid is successful.
