Tennis champ Murray rescues dog
Tuesday June 24th 2014
Andy Murray went from saving match point to saving a dog's life over the weekend.
The Scottish star, who kicks of his Wimbledon championship defence on Monday, was en route to a training session when he jumped from his car to rescue a lost labradoodle which was running towards traffic.
Murray stopped his car and caught the dog before it ran out in front of oncoming vehicles or got into any serious danger.
After taking the runaway dog to the safety of his car, Murray managed to call the number on its tag and was able to reunite the owner with her pet.
Murray told BBC Radio Five Live that the owner was extremely grateful for Murray protecting her pet. He also revealed that his two dogs coincidentally often walk with the labradoodle too.
Murray added: "The dog was pretty strong, I don't think it really wanted me to grab it by the collar and put it in the car but thankfully the dog was fine and it's all good."
