TOWIE star plays Santa to homeless dogs
Thursday December 8th 2016
TOWIE star Pete Wicks swapped his role in the Essex reality TV series to play Santa to homeless dogs.
Pete dropped by Dogs Trust Basildon and lent a hand to decorating the tree. The dogs were however more interested in the sleigh-full of gifts he brought to the re-homing centre.
Around 1,500 dogs will be spending Christmas at a Dogs Trust re-homing centre, says the charity.
Pete said staff and volunteers wasted no time in getting a bit of work out of him, joking that they "had me working hard decorating and wrapping up presents".
He explained: "A lot of the ones who end up homeless and at centres like this one have been handed in because their owners have had a tough time and couldn't care for them anymore."
The reality TV star praised the staff and volunteers for giving homeless dogs "some hope" by being committed to "finding them a perfect home".
Celebrities have helped out at Dogs Trust centres up and down the country.
Swimmer Rebecca Adlington was on hand in Manchester to help fill stockings for the dogs living there. She was "bowled over" to meet dogs like bearded collie Milo and Bailey the Labrador.
