Survey finds Britain's favourite dogs

Thursday June 30th 2016

The nation's top 10 favourite dog breeds have been revealed in a survey carried out as part of a prime-time ITV show.

One thousand dog fans from around the country took part in the poll, the results of which were unveiled on the Britain's Favourite Dogs programme last night.

According to the results of the survey, Britain's most beloved breed of dog is the Labrador, with Jack Russell terriers coming in closely behind in second place.

Border Collies proved popular too, taking third place in the survey, while the German Shepherd was next in the list of our favourite pooches.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Yorkshire Terriers, Springer Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels and Golden Retrievers placed highly on the list.

Animal lovers gave the reasons behind their choices, with Labradors seen as the most loyal breed, making them a good choice for families and for those requiring assistance dogs.

Britain's Favourite Dogs is available on the ITV Player for the next 29 days.
