Stolen dog's owner remortgages home
Wednesday May 15th 2013
A woman whose champion dog was stolen has remortgaged her home to fund a £10,000 reward for information leading to the animal's return.
Heartbroken Dawn Maw was putting pointer Angel in the boot of her car, along with her three other dogs, when she was taken on December 6 last year.
After a fruitless UK-wide search for her beloved pet Mrs Maw, 42, has now remortgaged her £160,000 semi-detached home in Barnsley in the hope that someone will come forward with information.
The mother-of-one admitted she didn't tell the bank what she needed the money for and said her husband was a little dubious but would never have stopped her because Angel is part of the family.
She acknowledged that her family have had to miss out on holidays and meals out as a result of her decision, but insists it will be worthwhile because everyone misses Angel - one of just two show champion gun dogs in the country - and just wants her back.
"She wasn't just a dog, she was everything to us, a real family member. She wasn't a dog we'd take for a walk once a day then forget about," she said.
