Station cat Felix finishes charity 'run'

Tuesday August 30th 2016

A popular railway station cat has completed a 5K "run", raising more than £5,000 for charity.

Felix, who is Hudderfield Station's pest controller, began the challenge on 12 August in support of Fairy Bricks, a charity which provides Lego sets to children in hospices.

A GPS tracker was attached to her collar to track her progress.

And despite her tiny paws and regular catnaps, the beloved moggie has finally finished the challenge.

Felix, who has 80,000 fans on her Facebook page, posted: "I am delighted to announce I have completed the 5K for my Fairy Bricks Challenge, (in aid of sick children).

"So proud of all my friends who have donated to such a great cause - the sponsorship link is still active if anyone wants to make a donation https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/felixcat."

She says its now the time to get back in the groove diet-wise and also to keep up her exercise regime.

Andy McClements, of TransPennine Express (TPE), said: "The team here could not be prouder of our resident senior pest controller."
