Singer's mother gets hearing fixed
Wednesday October 20th 2010
The 91-year-old mother of Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell has had her hearing restored.
Julia was fitted with two miniature hearing aids in a move that will once again allow her to hear her son sing clearly after years of problems for Mrs O'Donnell.
The singer, 48, spoke of his delight that his "Mammy" was now able to enjoy talking to people again, saying a weight had been lifted from the family.
He said: "She (Julia) suffered from quite a severe hearing impairment, so conversation became increasingly difficult for her.
"It also put quite a strain on the rest of the family. We are so thankful that we have found a solution for Mammy"
