Sheffield shows generosity to RSPCA

Tuesday September 30th 2014

The people of South Yorkshire have shown their support for a local animal rescue charity.

Shoppers and staff at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield donated clothes, bric-a-brac and books to help fill charity shops that fund the city's RSPCA branch.

The RSPCA has four charity shops in Sheffield. These are at The Moor, Woodseats, Hillsborough and Stocksbridge. Profits made by the stores go towards funding the charity's Sheffield Animal Centre which cares for abandoned cats, dogs and rabbits until they find a loving home.

Sarah Hawley, from the RSPCA's Sheffield branch, thanked everyone who made donations and everyone at Meadowhall for making the event happen.

Supporters donated 25 bags of clothing as well as three boxes of household items. There was also a separate donation of four boxes of brand new books from WH Smith.

Alex Caley, events manager at Meadowhall, echoed the thanks to everyone who donated and said it was a pleasure for Meadowhall to have supported the campaign.

She added that the donations would really help to make a difference to the charity's branch in the city.
