Search is on for dog foster carers
Wednesday January 13th 2016
Foster carers are being sought to look after dogs. Dog Trust Shoreham is calling for volunteers to give their pooches interim homes before they find a permanent family to live with.
The West Sussex kennels aim to find homes for animals which have not dealt with other dogs so well. These include nine-week-old Jet, a crossbreed who arrived over Christmas.
Employees thought the puppy would be better off with foster carers, so he was found a temporary home. Dogs Trust Shoreham's Sarah Howard says fostering gives dogs awaiting full-time homes more specialist attention.
The Trust's co-ordinator of foster care says that the scheme benefits three types of pooches. These are ones that may require a little bit more individual TLC, those not cut out for kennel life or ones with health problems.
Foster carers provide temporary loving, happy homes while they are awaiting a "forever" home, Ms Howard says. Dog lovers who think they may fit the bill can visit www.dogstrust.org.uk or call 0300 3030 292.
