Search for man over hotel cat theft

Tuesday February 17th 2015

A case of a missing cat has now become a police inquiry after a man was caught on CCTV taking the animal from a Cornwall hotel.

Staff at the Hotel Penzance realised 13-year-old blue Berman cat Jerry was missing on February 10 when he failed to come in for the night and was not seen in the morning either.

When they looked at footage from the hotel's CCTV system they saw a man taking the cat at around 10.30pm.

The owner of the hotel, Stephen Hill, says he and the rest of the staff are desperate to get Jerry back as he has been with them since he was a kitten.

Mr Hill, whose wife died unexpectedly five weeks ago, hopes the person who took Jerry will be shamed into returning him because of the publicity generated by the police appeal.
