Queen visits Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

Thursday March 19th 2015

The Queen could not be persuaded to add to her famous corgi collection this week, despite encouragement from a famous TV talent show judge. Amanda Holden, from Britain's Got Talent, was showing the monarch around Battersea Dogs and Cats Home on Wednesday March 18.

The Queen was there to open new kennels as patron of the home and her visit came just a week after the arrival of Beama, a 12-year-old corgi, whose owner could no longer look after him.

Battersea ambassador Holden asked the Queen if she was tempted to take Beama back home with her, but she was not for now.

The Queen currently has two corgis, Holly and Willow, and a couple of dorgis, corgi/dachshund crosses, called Vulcan and Candy. The home later gave the Queen some dog treats to take home to her pets.
