Pets forgotten amid holiday buzz

Tuesday August 23rd 2011

Research has suggested that pets are far from some people's minds when they are preparing to go on a foreign holiday.

The poll by energy supplier E.ON found that some 2% of the 2,000 adults polled had headed off on their holiday without first making sure they'd fed their cat or dog.

But it wasn't just pets that were losing out over holidays - pre-break forgetfulness was also found to impact on the pocket.

Some 7% of those polled had remembered they had left their microwave or TV plugged in after they had left the country - with the trend most common among younger people in East Anglia.

But respondents in London and the East Midlands weren't far behind in the energy wasting stakes, according to the poll.

At the other end of the scale were people in the North East, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as the best energy savers.
