Men more likely to lose jobs: study

Wednesday September 15th 2010

It is more likely for men to lose their jobs than women, according to research by the Office for National Statistics.

The study found that male workers are 3% more likely to become unemployed, but they find it easier to return to work.

The research also revealed that the longer people remain out of work, the harder it is for them to find a job.

And there are more school and university leavers aged 18 to 24 out of work than 35 to 49-year-olds, while people from ethnic backgrounds are more likely to be unemployed, according to the findings.
