Lost cat reappears after four years

Wednesday January 4th 2012

A cat which went missing four years ago was returned to its owner shortly after Christmas.

Although the 10-year-old cat, named Willow, disappeared from its owner's house in Princetown, Devon in 2007, the pet was only reunited with its owner on December 27 after being discovered in Plymouth.

Gables Farm Dogs' and Cats' Home in Plymouth was able to work out the identity of the cat by making use of an implanted microchip. The cat had originally been taken in by an Elburton family.

Commenting on the cat's surprise reappearance, owner Cristel Worth described it as the "best Christmas present ever".

She added: "How she managed to stray from Princetown to, about 20 miles away, to get to Elburton, I have no idea. It's a long journey right across the moors."

The 32-year-old admitted that she had almost lost hope that Willow would ever be found.
