Lorraine Kelly injured after fall

Thursday February 23rd 2012

ITV presenter Lorraine Kelly was left "bruised and battered" after attempting her first horse jump.

She will remain in hospital for a couple of days and Helen Fospero will take over on the ITV1 breakfast show in her absence.

Kelly told fans on Twitter: "Unfortunately the horse stamped on my thigh. As a result - deep wound and lots of blood. Was treated by fab paramedics in ambulance - then given an op under general anaesthetic at hospital."

While Kelly's recovery time will be "around four weeks", she will be back to the show before then.

Fospero told viewers: "I'm standing in for Lorraine today. You might have heard she's had an accident yesterday when she fell off a horse as she was getting ready for a charity event.

"But she's on the mend and if you're watching, Lorraine, this morning we all wish you a very speedy recovery."
