Jobs to go at firm by Christmas
Friday December 9th 2011
A downturn in sales has been cited as the reason for a components and circuit breaker firm having to shed 75 jobs before Christmas.
Hawker Siddeley Switchgear in Blackwood, South Wales, has been running for 20 years and in that time has won contracts with the likes of the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway, as well as hospitals, factories and wind farms.
Based on the Blackwood Business Park, it is now in talks with the unions over cutting 75 job, which includes 35 staff and 40 temporary workers.
The firm was formed from the merger of South Wales Switchgear and Brush Switchgear.
