Jaguar recalls 18,000 cars in UK

Wednesday October 26th 2011

Nearly 18,000 Jaguar cars are having to be recalled in the UK because they are faulty, the company said.

Customers were sent a letter by the firm, pointing out that in diesel-engine, X-type models made in 2006-10 the cruise control system "may not respond to the normal inputs".

The letter also notes that, if engaged, the system cannot in certain circumstances be disengaged in the usual way, and that owners may need to turn off the ignition to cancel their cruise control.

Jaguar said it is having to recall 17,678 cars in the UK because of the fault.

A company spokesman said: "This potential problem was spotted by one of our employees. No customer has been affected and there had been no accidents or injuries."
