Inspirational cat the subject of new film

Thursday August 27th 2015

A James Bond director is making a new movie which tells the story of how an injured cat helped turn round the life of a recovering drug addict.

Roger Spottiswoode, who directed Pierce Brosnan's 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies, will start working on A Street Cat Named Bob from October. The Bob in question is a cat that was found by a busker in his sheltered accommodation eight years ago.

James Bowen nursed Bob back to full health, while scarf-wearing Bob proved an inspiration for getting his owner's life back on track.

Their heart-warming tale has spawned six books. The first one - A Street Cat Named Bob: And How He Saved My Life - was released three years ago.

Now Luke Treadaway will star in the film version of the bestseller. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time actor will play the lead role, supported by Ruta Gedmintas, his real-life girlfriend.
