Happy new home for 'lonely' Gizmo

Friday January 16th 2015

A dog that was so depressed that he refused to wag his tail is happy once again now that he has found a new loving home.

It has taken nearly six months for Gizmo, a Staffordshire bull terrier, to be rehomed.

The 6-year-old Staffie was frightened of the rain, dark and traffic sounds when he was first kennelled at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. Staff spent a week just trying to persuade him to leave his bed.

Sarah Parkinson, a Battersea welfare and rehoming operative, was so taken by Gizmo's plight that she brought him home every night.

Then Suffolk couple Jan and Ian Bevis provided a permanent solution to Gizmo's woes and offered him a full-time home after seeing an appeal.

The couple, of Beccles, said that the now extrovert Gizmo no longer fears anything and particularly enjoys long beach walks and curling up on the sofa.
