Dogs have long been described as man's best friend, but how exactly did we manage to take a big, vicious wolf and end up with a small, cuddly pug?

There are now over 400 different breeds of dog on the planet, all of which have evolved from wolves through the process of selective breeding.

Here at helpucover, we have identified how some of the most popular dog breeds, such as the bulldog and Jack Russel, have evolved over the years from the original grey wolf, the man-hunting predator which has been walking the planet for thousands of years.
