Feel-good cat story brought to big screen
Thursday September 15th 2016
The story of A Street Cat Named Bob is heading to the big screen, and its leading lady has promised it will offer a "different twist on a feel good film".
Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt plays support worker Val in the film, which is based on James Bowen's best-selling book about his life on the streets and a stray cat, Bob, who helped him turn his life around.
"It's a different twist on a feel-good film. Because it's real, because you see this person overcome these incredible obstacles through a connection with another being. That's a very heart-warming story I think," Froggatt said.
Bob the cat actually stars in the film, playing himself, and can be seen in the recently-released trailer. The heart-warming clip shows him jumping through Bowen's window to keep him company while he detoxes and how he helped the busker increase his income by becoming part of the act.
A Street Cat Named Bob will hit UK cinema screen on November 4. The book of the same name was published in 2010 and has sold over a million copies in the UK alone.
A number of follow-ups, including The World Accord to Bob, Bob: No Ordinary Cat and Where In The World Is Bob, have been released.
