Drowning cat brought back to life

Thursday May 28th 2015

A lucky cat has eight lives remaining after firemen brought it back to life using a mini oxygen mask.

The moggy, believed to be just a year old, had fallen into a river and was struggling to swim to shore.

Thankfully two eagle-eyed members of the public noticed what was happening and managed to pull Splash - the nickname given to him by his rescuers - out of the water. But he was showing no signs of life.

A fire crew answered the 999 alert and rushed to the scene in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. They eventually managed to coax the cat back to life with the oxygen mask, which is designed for use on children.

Splash is expected to make a full recovery, despite his frightening ordeal. He is currently being cared for at the local Best Friends veterinary practice, where he will remain for the next few days in case his owner comes forward.
