Dogs get Claus out for charity

Thursday November 13th 2014

Dogs and their owners are getting into the Christmas spirit to help a hospice daycare unit raise some much needed funds.

Treetops Hospice in Derbyshire has organised a 5K Paws Walk and Santa Dash, with entrants to dress up in Father Christmas suits, hats and seasonal doggy bandanas.

It hopes to raise £10,000 with the event on December 6 - £7,500 more than the inaugural event last year.

All of the money will go towards providing end-of-life and respite care for adults and their families across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Participants can either walk or run the 5K Santa Dash, or they can walk the 5K Paws Walk with their four-legged friend.

It doesn't matter how fast you get round, what counts is taking part and raising as much money as possible.

Dogs go free, while tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children. Santa gear will be provided at the start line.
