Dog snaps making sick teenager smile
Tuesday January 6th 2015
Pet owners around the world are posting photos of their dogs on Facebook to help bring a smile to the face of a teenager battling leukaemia.
So far getting on for 700,000 users have signed up to the Photo Doggies for Anthony page in a bid to cheer up Anthony Lyons.
Roberta Lucero-Koron, a friend of the 16-year-old's mum Kristen Lyons, set up the page and is asking users to post photos of their dogs along with details of where they are from.
Anthony is being treated at the Phoenix Children's Hospital in Arizona, US, where he is getting visits from real-life dogs during pet therapy sessions.
But that therapy is being extended by the Facebook campaign, with Roberta saying it brings a smile to Anthony's face when his mum shows him the pictures that people are posting.
Some of the pictures posted on the page show dogs in silly poses or wearing hats, sunglasses and clothes, with many accompanied by a personal message to Anthony from their owners.
