Dog owner asks public to join him on pet's last walk
Friday November 11th 2016
A dog owner has invited friends and family to join him for one last walk with his beloved pet before the animal is put to sleep.
Mark Woods has made an emotional appeal on Facebook for people and pets to join him on a Cornish beach on Saturday when he takes 18-year-old whippet Walnut for a final walk.
Mr Woods wrote: "Sadly I am having to have Walnut euthanised on Saturday November 12 and so we will be having a last walk together on his beloved Porth Beach at 9.30am. I would love it if dog lovers/owners and friends would join us for a celebration of Walnut on his favourite Porth Beach."
He has had had Walnut for 18 years, since he was a puppy.
He told the BBC that the reaction to his appeal has been "incredible" with people from as far afield as Surrey and Derbyshire offering their support.
The event is being shared on social media under #walkwithwalnut.
Mr Wood said he is taking Thursday and Friday off work so he can spend time with his much loved pet and give him the best possible send off.
