Bid to give dogs all they want fur Christmas

Tuesday November 18th 2014

An animal rescue charity has put doggy toys and treats on its Christmas list as its annual festive appeal gets into gear.

Jerry Green Dog Rescue is calling for supporters to fill shoeboxes with special presents, which will then be given to pooches with no home across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

The charity, which says it wants to give the animals an extra special Christmas, took in about £5,000 worth of toys and treats for the animals last Christmas.

While grateful for this, fundraising head Catherine Foster says she and her colleagues hope dog-loving supporters of the group can bring the dogs even more festive cheer this time round.

Donations can be made at Jerry Green Dog Rescue centres or by sending in a cheque marked Christmas Appeal. Presents which will be welcomed with open paws are squeaky toys, rope toys, bones, hot dogs, tennis balls and rawhide chews.
