Be a saint and adopt a greyhound
Friday April 24th 2015
There will be plenty of patriotic spirit at the Sheffield Retired Greyhound Trust's Gosling Moor farm this Sunday at its St George's Day fayre.
As well as the chance to win on the tombola and raffle, visitors can also enjoy a traditional cream tea to celebrate England's patron saint.
A selection of the greyhounds at the farm, who are all looking for new homes, will welcome visitors and they can take a dog for a walk around the farm if they wish.
The trust's Sheffield branch is run by Roy and Lynda Cattlin, who say they are keen to celebrate St George's Day in style.
They want as many people as possible to enjoy the day with them and also raise funds and awareness for the trust so they can find more loving homes for the retired greyhounds they look after.
The trust works with Sheffield's Owlerton Greyhound Stadium to find homes for the dogs when they are deemed too old to race. The trust has managed to home more than 1,000 of them since it started nine years ago.
