Battersea book tells tales of love

Thursday February 6th 2014

A new book with a foreword by TV personality Paul O'Grady tells of dogs and cats rehomed from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

With royalties going to Battersea, the book consists of 12 stories of the rehoming of animals to places around the UK and even abroad.

Lost & Found: True Tales Of Love And Rescue includes tales of a boy helped by his dog to deal with an autoimmune disease, and a woman whose Staffie helped her through cancer.

Others tell of a widower comforted by her three-legged kitten and a Collie becoming a search-and-rescue dog.

The tales come from different perspectives such as the overcoming of illness or the provision of comfort and companionship to owners.

O'Grady, ambassador for Battersea, says each story shows how a good home for an animal is life-changing for it and changes the lives of its new owners.

The book reveals the "highs and lows that rescuing our most needy animals can bring", said O'Grady.

Lost & Found is available from the home's website and at Tesco, Asda, Amazon, WH Smith and Waterstones and other selected retailers.
