What is Sports Injury Insurance?
Sports Injury Insurance from helpucover provides you with cash lump sums towards your expenses in the event of a sports injury. Depending on the level of cover you choose, you can claim cash benefits of up to £2,000 for each broken bone, up to £10,000 a year for Dental Accident, up to £1,000 per dislocation and a convalescence benefit of £750 a month for up to 3 months to cover any loss of earnings.

Is it easy to be accepted for Sports Insurance cover?
Yes it's very easy. Simply get your quick Sports Insurance quote and complete the online Sports Injury Insurance application form, or phone helpucover on 0800 038 0836.
If you meet the criteria, acceptance is guaranteed. And you don't have to take a medical either. After reading the Policy Summary, just complete the simple application form online. As long as you are aged between 18 and 60 years, are an amateur sportsperson and are permanently living in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, you are eligible for Sports Insurance cover.

Can I cancel my Sports Accident Cover if I choose?
If you wish to cancel your Sports Insurance cover, and do so within 30 days of the policy start date, you will receive a full refund of any premium paid, provided you haven't made a claim. You can also cancel your Sports Injury Insurance policy at any time after this; however no refund of premiums will be made. Simply call helpucover on 0845 121 2435.

Is there anything I won't be covered for?
Our Sports Injury Insurance does not cover some extreme and high risk sports including: ballooning, boxing, bungee jumping, caving, climbing, competitive driving or riding, diving, hang gliding, hunting, hydro-planing, ice hockey, ice skating, motor sports, mountaineering, parachuting, pot-holing, skiing, snowboarding, water skiing, white water canoeing or white water rafting.
A full list of exclusions will be provided with your Sports Injury Insurance policy but the main instances when you will not be covered are:
- any injury which occurs before your cover starts; which is diagnosed by a doctor more than 7 days after the event which causes the injury;
- for an injury if it is as a result of osteoporosis;
- self-inflicted injury;
- injury occurring while you are:- committing any criminal act; under the influence of alcohol or drugs; working or training as a professional sportsperson; playing sport whilst under medical instruction not to do so or whilst otherwise unfit to participate or in contravention of any published safety guidelines;
- any dental injury which results while you are not wearing a dentally approved mouth guard if your sport requires this.
- Where a condition you had before the start date makes an injury occurring after the start date more severe, we will only pay the benefits which you would have been entitled to if you had not suffered from that condition.

Am I covered as a semi-professional?
No. This Sports Injury Insurance is purely for amateur sports players. You may claim benefits if you are paid travelling expenses but not if you are paid attendance money or match bonuses.

Can I take out cover for a holiday / one-off event?
No. Sports Injury Insurance offers continued cover for all sports you participate in (with the exception of certain dangerous sports as outlined above under the section titled 'Is there anything I won't be covered for?') for a low monthly premium. Cover is therefore not specifically available for holidays or one-off events.

If I have an injury but not a fractured bone, am I still covered?
Compensation for broken bones is just one of the benefits offered with Sports Injury Insurance from helpucover. Other benefits include Dental Accident cover, cash towards physiotherapy and hospitalisation costs, and cash in the event of lost income. How do I make a claim?
To claim under your Sport Insurance policy, write to or phone us and we will send you a claim form, which you must complete and return to us within 90 days of the sports injury occurring. Please refer to our claims section for details.

Our Customer Service
We take great pride in the quality of service that we deliver but things can go wrong. It is important that you contact us if you are unhappy with any aspect of your experience with helpucover in order that we can look into it for you.
Once you have we will try to respond and resolve your concerns within 24 hours. Where that is not possible then we will write to you acknowledging your complaint. That letter will contain
- A reference number for your query
- The name of the individual Customer Relations Officer assigned your case and their contact details
- An indication of when you can next expect to hear from us
We will always ensure that you receive an explanation for our actions and that any solution we suggest is a fair one, taking account of all of the circumstances. Occasionally this will mean our investigations will take longer than we would like.
If that is the case we will
- Write to you no later than 4 weeks after your complaint is first received updating you on the current situation
- Write to you again 8 weeks after your complaint is received either with a final decision or;
- Explain why we are not in a position to supply you with a final decision, together with an estimation of when a final decision will be sent, and details of how you could escalate the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) are an independent organisation that can consider your complaint if you are unhappy with our final response. Once you receive our final decision letter or the letter advising you that you can approach FOS you can contact them at

The parties to this contract are free to choose the law applicable to it. If you live in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man you may choose to commence legal proceedings in your local courts. In any other cases unless there is agreement to the contrary English law will apply.
The helpucover Sports Injury Protection Plan is underwritten by Pinnacle Insurance plc. This policy is available to United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Isle of Man residents only.
