Injured puppy was left abandoned
Thursday August 9th 2012
An injured nine-week-old puppy was found dumped in a cardboard box in a vet surgery car park, and the RSPCA is appealing for information.
On August 1 at approximately 4.40pm, staff in the Bicester Veterinary Centre on Victoria Road, Bicester discovered the white and tan coloured Staffy-type dog, which they have named Don.
The young dog was unable to stand and upon inspection was found to have badly broken its hip. After being given pain relief Don was operated on and is now recovering well.
RSPCA inspector Doug Davidson said: "The person who left the dog there may have thought they were doing the right thing by leaving him at a vet surgery, but it is always unacceptable to dump an animal - as an owner you have a duty to look after your pets."
The surgery's CCTV was studied and revealed a slim young man dressed in a purple T-shirt acting suspiciously in the car park at about 2pm. The footage showed the man leaving a box on the ground between rows of cars before leaving the car park by jumping over a wall.
